ADVOCACY IS NOT A BAD WORD: DEVELOPING EFFECTIVE PARENT-PROVIDER RELATIONSHIPS USING POSITIVE ADVOCACY: Family to Family, a project of the Institute's Early Childhood Center and About Special Kids (ASK), is sponsoring a workshop on using advocacy as a tool for families as they seek solutions and resources for their children with disabilities. PRODUCT REVISION

Tips Folder Graphic

TIPS TO PROMOTE POSITIVE PARTNERSHIPS BETWEEN FAMILIES AND SCHOOLS: The Institute's Family and Individual Resource and Support Team (FIRST) recently completed a revision of its "TIPs Folder." The folder was designed to help promote positive partnerships between school personnel and families of children with disabilities. The increased frustration over the years, felt by both parties, prompted a statewide survey of families and school personnel. Survey results led to a forum to discuss issues raised. Participants were asked to brainstorm ideas that would promote positive partnerships between families and school personnel. Their ideas prompted the development of this folder. The "Tips" folder is available in sets of five. $4.00 for 5 folders; 1st set is free. To order, contact the Publications Department, Indiana Institute on Disability and Community, 2853 East Tenth Street, Bloomington, IN 47408-2696, call (812) 855-6508 or e-mail cedir@indiana.edu. This publication is available for download in PDF format. Download at: http://www.iidc.indiana.edu/styles/iidc/defiles/TIPS09.pdf.
