VIDEO SELF-MODELING INTERVENTIONS FOR INDIVIDUALS ON THE AUTISM SPECTRUM WORKSHOP: The Institute’s Indiana Resource Center for Autism will host a workshop for parents and practitioners on video self-modeling for individuals on the autism spectrum on Friday, April 9, 2010 at the Indiana Institute complex in Bloomington.
The purpose of this half-day workshop is to teach parents and practitioners how to implement effective video self-modeling (VSM) interventions. VSM is an evidence based approach for addressing the social, communication, emotional, and behavioral functioning of individuals on the autism spectrum. The presentation will examine the research on video modeling and VSM, and discuss why these strategies are particularly beneficial to individuals on the autism spectrum. Obstacles to implementing VSM will be discussed and solutions will be offered. Numerous applied examples of how to implement these interventions with children on the autism spectrum will be covered and a special emphasis will be placed on outlining easy to implement VSM interventions. During this small group workshop, participants will receive hands-on training in the implementation of VSM, including training on how to produce and edit video clips.
Scott Bellini, Assistant Director of the Indiana Resource Center for Autism will be the featured presenter. Bellini is an Assistant Professor of School Psychology at Indiana University, Bloomington. He is also the Director of the Social Skills Research Center (SSRC), a university- based center specializing in developing and empirically examining the outcomes of social skill interventions for youth with ASD. He is a licensed psychologist in the state of Indiana and an endorsed Health Services Provider in Psychology.
This workshop is geared for general and special education teachers, administrators, early intervention providers, family members, and those interested in learning more about supporting individuals on the autism spectrum.
Registration fee is $50.00 per person. Registration is limited to 30 participants. If you have content questions, contact Scott Bellini at (812) 855-6508 or e-mail
