Indiana AFP Scorecard Survey: The National Alliance for Full Participation (AFP) is interested in how Indiana is doing on the path to the ambitious goal of 50% employment of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities in five years. They have created a “scorecard” of possible benchmarks for state Alliances. This scorecard was created to help Indiana review the state policies, practices, and strategies that impact on opportunities for integrated employment. The answers on this scorecard will help Indiana identify priorities and set goals for employment initiatives and outline a strategy for doubling our state’s rate of integrated employment by the year 2015.

Indiana Alliance, visit their webpage and

Last Call for the ADA Survey: The ADA Survey will close at the end of the day Tuesday, June 15th! We have received nearly 600 Indiana responses, and it would be great to reach 750 or more by then! So be sure to SPEAK YOUR MIND before July 15th - we want to know what you have to say!
The responses to the ADA Survey will be compiled into Indiana’s 2010 Report Card, which will be announced at a Press Conference just before the 20th Anniversary of the Signing of the ADA in late July. To request the ADA Survey in an alternative format, or for additional information, contact Dr. Vicki Pappas by phone: 1-800-825-4733 or e-mail:

Behavior as Communication: What is MY Child Saying? Families are often challenged with understanding why their child seems to have out-of-the-ordinary behavior during different routines or times of the day. This session will assist families to better understand those behaviors and guide positive interaction skills.
Complete the registration form online. An e-mail will be sent to those who have registered with more detailed instructions on how to connect. For more information, contact Betsy Traub at (812) 855-6508 or e-mail

INDATA Demo Day at the Institute: There are an estimated 80 million Baby Boomers in the United States, and more than 8,000 people are turning the age of 60 each day. Aging can cause physiological changes, including vision and hearing loss, and decreased mobility.
The INDATA Project at Easter Seals Crossroads will be at the Indiana Institute on Thursday, June 17, to showcase assistive technology devices for a wide variety of disabilities. The “Demo Day” at the Institute will feature devices that assist people as they age. Devices to be highlighted include phones, handheld magnifiers, handheld CCTVs, pill splitters, smart shoppers, card holders and TV ears.
To register for your free half-hour appointment during "Demo Day," contact Carol Girt at 1-888-466-1314. Please register by 4 p.m. on Wednesday, June 16. If you are interested in learning about assistive technology devices for other disabilities, contact Carol Girt as well.
INDATA "Demo Days" provides individuals who make an appointment, the opportunity to experience an abbreviated one-on-one device demonstration, during which they learn how assistive technology can increase independence through a hands-on session with the many low-tech and high-tech assistive technology devices available.
In some cases, the assistive technology provided can ultimately determine whether someone is able to work outside of their home or attend a public school. In addition, that technology can be used to help better the interaction and communication between individuals and their families or friends. For more information, visit the
INDATA blog.
