Webinar on Ticketing Provisions of the ADA: The ADA National Network is pleased to announce a special session on the new ticketing provisions of the ADA in collaboration with the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts. While you may have policies in place and staff trained to sell tickets over the phone and in person at the Box Office, are you ready to sell accessible seats on the Internet? The session will be held on Friday, February 25 from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. (Eastern). The Webinar is free but registration is required to participate.
The U.S. Department of Justice's 2010 Revised Regulations on the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) become enforceable on March 15, 2011. These regulations notably include provisions regarding the sale of accessible tickets, including providing people with disabilities with the opportunity to purchase tickets using the same methods available to patrons without disabilities. Selling accessible tickets online impacts everything from your ticketing policies to your website.

Indiana Resource Center for Autism Summer Institute: Mark your calendars and plan to attend the Institute’s Indiana Resource Center for Autism’s Summer Institute on Evidenced-Based Practices scheduled for June 6-10, 2011 and held at the Indiana Institute in Bloomington.
The Indiana Resource Center for Autism has been an implementation site for the National Professional Development Center on Autism, a grant project funded through the Office of Special Education Programs (OSEP), focusing on applying evidence-based practices in public school settings.
Summer Institute outcomes will provide participants with:
- Tools to evaluate classrooms;
- Validate outcomes of programming; and
- Implement evidence-based practices.
Registration fee is $400.00 per person. Certificate of attendance will be available to use for Professional Growth points and three hours of Indiana University graduate credit will be offered. Attendees will enroll for Graduate credit on Monday, June 6, 2011.
For more information on Institute content, contact Cathy Pratt

Save the Date! August 3-4 Transition Forum: Come join the Institute’s Center on Community Living and Careers on August 3 and 4 at the Sheraton Hotel and Suites in Indianapolis for the 2011 Statewide Transition Forum: Lights, Camera, Action… A Student-Directed Production.
In addition to learning about promising secondary transition practices from national and statewide leaders, attendees will explore the most up-to-date and evidence-based secondary transition practices for their students and network and share ideas with colleagues from across the state.
The forum will be a combination of a conference, in which the latest information and practices will be shared, and a forum, giving special education administrators, teachers and other educational professionals time to network, identify needs, share ideas, problem-solve and promote successful transition solutions and opportunities. Visit the Indiana Secondary Transition Resource Center website at
http://www.iidc.indiana.edu/index.php?pageId=3283 for registration materials and speaker information.

New Pilot Training Underway for Employment Specialists: A small group of Indiana employment specialists, representing disability services provider organizations around the state, are helping test a new “blended” training program. The Center on Community Living and Careers, in conjunction with the office of Indiana Vocational Rehabilitation Services (VRS), is coordinating the online and 2-day, face-to-face training, which kicked off at the end of January.
Indiana Supported Employment Training Team (ISETT) members are serving as instructors for the pilot. VRS is testing the pilot against traditional employment specialist training, which is a 6-day, face-to-face training program. For more information on employment specialist training or on ISETT, contact Jackie Tijerina at
jtijerin@indiana.edu or call CCLC at (812) 855-6508, or TTY: 812-855-9396.
Updated Guide to Social Security Work Incentives Now Available Online: The 2011 edition of the Social Security Administration’s “Red Book” is now available online. Visit the
SSA Red Book website for an HTML version or to download the book for print (pdf). The Red Book, according to SSA, is “a general reference source about the employment-related provisions of Social Security Disability Insurance and the Supplemental Security Income programs for educators, advocates, rehabilitation professionals, and counselors who serve people with disabilities.” There’s also a link on the site to What’s New in 2011. The Substantial Gainful Activity (SGA), for example, for 2011 continues to be $1,000 for individuals with disabilities other than blindness and $1,640 for individuals who are blind.
And if you’re curious about what SGA is and why people with disabilities need to know, visit the Center on Community Living and Career’s
Indiana Disability Benefits and Work website, where you’ll find a wealth of information, updated for 2011, designed to help Hoosiers with disabilities understand how going to work will impact their state and federal benefits.
