New ADA Regulations and the Arts
: Focus on Ticketing: The ADA National Network and the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts are partnering to host a special five-part webinar series focusing on the new ticketing regulations for the Americans with Disabilities Act and its impact for arts organizations.

ADA Regulations and the Arts: Focus on Ticketing
5-part Webinar Series
Sessions: 10/12, 10/19, 10/26, 11/2, and 11/9
All sessions: 2:00 - 3:00 p.m. EASTERN

The webinar is free, but REGISTRATION is required to participate in individual sessions and/or the series.

On September 15, 2010, the United States Department of Justice (DOJ) published revised Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) regulations to update and amend the provisions in the original 1991 ADA regulations. These regulations include brand-new language regarding ticketing that has changed the way that arts organizations need to shape ticketing policy.

This five-part webinar series will review and discuss best practices for implementing the new regulations in arts organizations with an up-close look at ticketing. Be part of the conversation about the many facets of good accessible ticketing policies, including pricing, hold and release policies, ticket exchanges and transfers, and the online sale of accessible seats.

In-Depth: State Disability Planning
: The Institute’s Center for Planning and Policy Studies gathers information about disability-related policy issues and assists groups with planning activities that support inclusive communities.

Indiana’s Governor’s Council for People with Disabilities commissioned the Center to gather input from people with disabilities, family members, and community service providers to determine priorities for Indiana’s five-year state disabilities plan for 2012-2016. Data were gathered through regional Town Meetings, an on-line survey, and focus groups.

What People are Saying…

“I thought this was the most informative Town Meeting I have ever taken part in. It was a great experience - my greatest hope is that the ideas that we came up with are used!”

“It was great to have so many people in our community coming together. It needs to be done more often.”

“I hope that the efforts you all put forth bring results at the state level. Thank you again for the opportunity to be a part of it.”

Town Meeting Participants, Winter 2011

The Town Meetings and policy surveys gathered information on issues of concern and potential solutions in education, employment, housing, transportation, health care, access, long term care and supports, and service systems and quality assurance. More than 229 individuals and family members attended the Town Meetings and 1,300 Hoosiers responded to the survey. This input was used by the Council to formulate goals. Focus groups were then held to identify potential ways to move the goals and issues forward.
