ADA-Indiana Webinar: On Thursday, November 3, 2011 from 2:30 to 4:00 p.m. Eastern, ADA-Indiana will host a free webinar on the 2010 ADA Standards and the Architectural Barriers Act Accessibility Standards that include scoping provisions for recreational boating facilities. Facilities covered by these standards include municipal marinas, federal boating facilities, and private sector marinas and boating facilities.

Learn more about boat slip scoping and special technical provisions that apply to gangways connecting floating facilities, clear space requirements at accessible boat slips, and parking at specialized facilities. There is no registration fee but you must register.

CWLab Hosts Achieve Board of Directors
: On Friday October 28, the Collaborative Work Lab (CWLab) hosted the Achieve Bloomington/Monroe County CHART Board of Directors. The work of Achieve is to improve the health and wellness of the Bloomington community through policy, systems, and environmental change.

Achieve members utilized the technology of the CWLab to help guide them in planning for the next three years using a strategic planning model facilitated by staff of the Institute’s Center for Planning and Policy Studies.

Stone Belt Empowered Learning Series
: Stone Belt of Bloomington will host a workshop on Loss and Grief in Families with Special Needs on Thursday, November 17, 2011 for 10:00 a.m. – Noon.

Presented by the Indiana Institute’s own Margaret Gilbride, this workshop will focus on how to support an individual with special needs to understand death and loss, and move through the grieving process.

This workshop is free and open to the public but space is limited. For more information or to reserve a space, contact the Stone Belt Community Engagement Department at (812) 332-2168 ext. 269 or e-mail communityengagement@stonebelt.org.

Workshop on Brain Injury and Depression: The Bloomington Brain Injury Local Support Network will host a workshop on Brain Injury and Depression on Thursday, November 10, 2011 from 2:00-3:30 p.m. at the Bloomington Boys and Girls Club Gymnasium.

The featured speaker will be Ed Haskins, Ph.D., HSSP, a Clinical Neuropsychologist, Hook Rehabilitation Outpatient Services. This is a free event but you must pre-register by sending an e-mail to nancy.griffin@rhin.com.

The Bloomington Brain Injury Local Support Network is a community collaborative initiative through the Family Social Services Administration, Division of Disability and Rehabilitative Services, Rehabilitation Hospital of Indiana Foundation, and the Brain Injury Association of Indiana.

Indiana Senior Hunger Summit: Indian ranks 12th in the nation with the most food insecure seniors. Hear national experts speak to the consequences of hunger and malnutrition on the older adult, get examples of best practices in senior programming, and learn why it is so important to advocate and educate your community about the nutrition needs of our older adults. The Indiana Senior Hunger Summit will be held on Wednesday, November 2 at the Marriott East in Indy.
