ADA-Indiana Audio Conference: This month's audio conference, hosted by
ADA-Indiana, will feature Joyce Walker Jones, a Senior Attorney Advisor from the
U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC). Jones will provide a brief update on the EEOC’s enforcement and outreach activities on the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) before taking questions from participants. This is an interactive session and attendees are encouraged to bring their tough issues and concerns forward.

Registration Deadline Nears for Employment Specialist Training: The Indiana Institute will host a six-day, face-to-face
Employment Specialist Training in Bloomington on May 15-17 and June 12-14. Job developers, employment specialists, and others involved in recruiting, training, hiring, inclusion and job placement for individuals with disabilities will benefit from this training, presented by the Indiana Supported Employment Training Team.
This face-to-face training is divided into two parts (attendance at both parts, all six days, is required) and covers:
- Person-centered planning;
- Job development;
- Worksite analysis;
- Assistive technology; and
- Job supports.

TEACCH Five-Day Classroom Training Program: The Institute’s
Indiana Resource Center for Autism, in collaboration with Forrest Hills Special Education Cooperative, will host a five-day workshop (June 18-21, 2012) focusing on providing intensive training that combines hands-on classroom experience, lectures, and topics related to working with students with autism.
The daily schedule includes:
- A direct, supervised experience in a demonstration classroom setting developed collaboratively by training staff and participants.
- Hands-on experience with students with autism of varying ages (within the elementary, middle and high school range) and functioning levels.
- An intense period of active learning. Presentations and demonstrations of working with students with autism, given by TEACCH program faculty and staff.
Certificates of Attendance for 37 instructional hours will be available at no charge and can be used for:
- Professional Growth Points
- Indiana Professional Licensing Agency for occupational therapists and occupational therapist assistants licensing requirements.
TEACCH will also be offered for 3 hours of Graduate Credit. Registration fee is $1,990.00 per person. Registration is limited to 25 persons.
Payment for registration fee is done online through Indiana University (IU) Conferences.

Find Secondary Transition Resources in Your Area! The
Indiana Secondary Transition Resource Center (INSTRC) website features an interactive
Community Resource Map. The map and search features are designed so that teachers, agencies, providers, families and individuals with disabilities can locate local and statewide secondary transition organizations, agencies and supports throughout the state.
Community Resource Map coordinators encourage sharing! If you have a resource in your area that isn’t currently found on the map, there is a link on the page to add additional organizations or even edit existing listings.

Best Buddies of Bloomington North and South High Schools have teamed up to host RACHEL COLEMAN live in concert.

Abilities Unlimited Benefit Concert: Mark your calendars for Thursday, April 26 and plan to attend the
Abilities Unlimited benefit concert at
Rhino’s Youth Center in Bloomington. The concert starts at 7:30 p.m. featuring the bands Elmo Taylor and Don’t Call Me Betty.
Proceeds will go to help Abilities provide durable medical equipment to people with disabilities. This includes items such as transfer benches, walkers, bath seats, transfer benches and other items needed for people to remain safely at home. Abilities Unlimited supports full community membership for people with disabilities. Abilities provides direct services and collaborate with other organizations and groups.
