ADA-Indiana introduces its 2008-2009 Legal Webinar series on Employment and the Americans with Disabilities Act. The topic of the first session will be Performance and Conduct Issues and an Overview of the ADA Amendments Act.
Guest speaker Sharon Rennert, Senior Attorney Advisor for the EEOC, will discuss the EEOC's recently issued Question-and-Answer Guide which illustrates how the ADA applies to a wide variety of performance and conduct issues. She will also provide an overview of the newly-enacted ADA Amendments Act of 2008.

The Indiana Institute's Center on Education and Lifelong Learning, in conjunction with the Indiana Department of Education, will host three regional workshops on differentiated instruction in April, 2009.
Research on effective curriculum and instruction shows that "one size fits all" instruction does not address the diverse learning profiles of students. Differentiated Instruction: An Introductory Workshop is designed to build awareness and conceptual understanding of:
· Principles of Differentiated Instruction;
· Understanding by Design principles as the basis for quality curricular design;
· Ongoing assessment; and
· Strategies to actively engage learners in meaningful learning experiences.
General and special education classroom teachers and building administrators who wish to encourage teachers' efforts to implement differentiated instruction should make plans to attend.

The Institute's Early Childhood Center is pleased to announce a series of five trainings for families and service providers is now available as a CD.
The five sessions include:
An Introduction to Special Education: Designed to answer common questions parent and family members have about special education including the case conference and IEP.
Turning Three: Ready, Set, Transition: Assists parents in understanding the process involved in moving from First Steps to public school preschool, and other community programs.
Locating and Navigating Community Resources: Provides information to help families understand the multitude of resources available for their child and family.
Medicaid Waivers: The Medicaid Waiver session focuses on accessing financial support for children with special needs.
Behavior as Communication: Assists families to understand out-of-the ordinary behaviors and ways to guide positive interaction skills.
Each of these five learning opportunities is available as a web link or part of the CD series available for purchase. All sessions are less than an hour in length and contain slides and notes and handouts for participant access.
