Todd Facilitates Self-Determination Training in Columbus

Center on Aging and Community staffer Jennie Todd spent most of last week in Columbus, Indiana, providing advocacy training to people with disabilities. Young adults with disabilities from Bartholomew County, many of whom sit on various boards such as The ARC Board, Mayor’s Council, and Self-Advocates of Tomorrow, were in attendance.

The group learned about Self-Advocacy/Self Determination and how to plan and run effective meetings. “It was impressive to see participants' confidence grow and new skills emerge. We also had a group of future teachers from IUPUC drop by for an afternoon, and they were also inspired by the trainees' strides forward," said Todd. For more information on advocacy training, contact Todd at (812) 855-6508 or e-mail jeptodd@indiana.edu.
