Hearing impairment is a general term used to describe any level of hearing loss.

- Deafness is extreme loss of hearing, while hard of hearing is a partial loss of hearing.
- Some causes of hearing impairments include: genetic factors, illnesses, accidents, problems during pregnancy, complications during birth and a variety of other illnesses.
