Almost everybody thinks Patrick is stupid. Patrick still can't read even though he is in the fifth grade. Patrick figures out a way to run away from all the hurt and hateful words he hears everyday. He retreats to his own special world and for awhile becomes the White Knight. Then comes the invasion of his world by the new girl next door. She loves to read. Unlike most of his family and friends, Celina believes that Patrick is smart and can read. His mother and homeroom teacher also believe in him.
