Kissing Doorknobs

Read All About It!

When Terry was 11, someone said to her "step on a crack, break your mother's back." That was when she had to start counting all the cracks between her house and school. This is Terry’s tale of her obsessive-compulsive disorder, that began that day when she was 11. Terry discusses her disorder and how her family and friends react to her compulsions.

By Terry Spence Hesser. New York: Delacorte Press, 1998. 160 pages. Fiction. Ages 12 and up.

Reviewer: Brittany, 12 yrs old from Florida.

I have anxiety, too.  I read the book just recently.  I'm doing a book report on it right now-due tomorrow.  I thought it was a great book, but it could have used a better ending- or a second book.  Tara and Sam should become girlfriend and boyfriend and Tara should help Sam get better and talk about her growing even older, if you make a second book. Even my librarian thinks it's a great book.
