This Newbery Award-winning book is set in the 14th century and tells the tale of Robin, son of Sir John de Buerford. Robin looses the use of his legs due to illness and is left behind by his servants, who are afraid of his ailment. Brother Luke, from a local monastery, takes in Robin and teaches him how to live without the use of his legs. Robin, who dreamt of becoming a knight like his father, finds that there is more than one way to serve the king.
