ADA-Indiana's 2003 Grants were awarded to the following organization.
Employing People with Disabilities: A Handbook for Employers - Greater Bloomington Chamber of Commerce Diversity Team
The Diversity Team of the Greater Bloomington Chamber of Commerce developed a comprehensive handbook to help small businesses understand their obligations under the ADA.
Location: Monroe County
Outcomes:
- Printed and disseminated 1000 copies of the handbook.
- The booklet was well received by the press and the community.
- The booklet prompted a visit from Bob Pasternack (who at the time was an Assistant Secretary with the U.S. Department of Education, Rehabilitative Services) who praised the book and encouraged businesses to hire people with disabilities.
- Other states and communities in Indiana have requested copies of the template to customize the booklet for their areas.
