Introduction Courses
These Introduction courses were developed by the ADA National Network.
- ADA Basic Building Blocks - The ADA Basic Building Blocks an introductory webcourse on the Americans with Disabilities Act. The course covers the purpose of the ADA , the five Titles, and provides examples of applying the ADA to different situations. There are also multiple choice self-tests, a glossary of terms and acronyms, and other resources.
Online Courses
There are a variety of online courses available at no cost. Some courses do require registration. This is a collection of courses that are self-paced and offered through the Internet. They range from a basic introduction to the Americans with Disabilities Act to courses designed for a specific audience, or on a specific topic.
- Accommodating People with Cognitive Disabilities in the Workplace - On-line Workshop - From Great Lakes ADA Center: This workshop is targeted to help you, whether you are: an employer who is considering hiring someone with a disability. An HR Manager who has an employee that has experienced a disability and want to return to work or may be up for a promotion; a service provider who assists people with disabilities who are entering or returning to the workforce; and a person with a disability or you know someone with a disability who is trying to figure out employment options.
- ADA Employment Course - From ADA National Network: Welcome to a free self-paced course on the employment requirements in Title I of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), including the revisions in the ADA Amendments Act of 2008.
- ADA National Network launches Disability Rights Web Course - According to the ADA National Network, the Disability Rights Web Course is a "free, self-paced web course available 24/7 that provides an overview of disability rights laws. The course takes approximately 2 hours and includes real life scenarios, quizzes and a final exam." Recommended audience: People with disabilities, Advocates for people with disabilities, Rehabilitation counselors, Social service providers, and anyone with an interest in disability rights laws.
- ADA Tutorial - Title II of Americans with Disabilities Act - A free online course developed by the DBTACs. The course cover the requirements under Title II of the Americans with Disabilities Act.
- Access Board's Online Training Course on Play Area Guidelines - "...explains how to apply and follow the guidelines for proper access. It covers the scope and application of the guidelines, including the number of play components required to be accessible, and technical provisions for accessible play equipment...."
- At Your Service: Welcoming Customers with Disabilities - From the ADA National Network: "At Your Service: Welcoming Customers with Disabilities" is a self-paced webcourse for people interested in discovering best practices for working with customers who have disabilities.
- Access E-Learning - From Project GRADE: "A free, online ten-module tutorial that offers information, instructional techniques, and practice labs on how to make the most common needs in distance education accessible for individuals with disabilities...."
- Reaching Out to Customers with Disabilities - An online ADA course for businesses from the U.S. Department of Justice. The course covers policies and procedures, communications, barrier removal and more.
- ADA Basic Building Blocks - Spanish Version - Spanish version of the "ADA Basic Building Blocks" online course. An introductory webcourse on the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 (ADA) that explores the legal requirements and spirit of the ADA.
