Supporting the ADA in Indiana
Staff at the Center for Planning and Policy Studies provide ongoing technical assistance and staff support to the ADA-Indiana for the implementation of the Americans with Disabilities Act. The staff works with the University of Illinois in Chicago on this project. As part of their involvement, the Center engages in the following activities:
Designing and maintaining the ADA Indiana Home Page;
Serving as a fiscal agent for the Indiana State ADA Steering Committee.
Coordinating special projects such as the ADA Celebration in July
Conducting Disability Action Workshops across Indiana to provide information on the upcoming city elections to people interested in disability issues;
Implementing the Media Packet Project to encourage appropriate portrayal of people with disabilities in the media in local communities;
Administering Collaborative Community ADA Implementation projects which fund local community groups to conduct innovative projects that enhance the implementation of the ADA.
Disseminating ADA Information
Staff at the Center for Planning and Policy Studies serves as a central point of contact for ADA questions raised by staff at the Indiana Institute on Disability and Community and as an ADA information resource.
Staff at the Center for Planning and Policy Studies works with the Indiana Institute on Disability and Community Library to build the Institute's library collection of ADA materials.
