Early Childhood Meeting Place

Project Summary:

Connecting Indiana’s early childhood community to education, resources, and news

In 1998, the Early Childhood Center (ECC) developed and posted an online training events calendar for families and professionals in the fields of early intervention and early childhood special education. In 2000 and again in 2005, the ECC expanded the web site into the Early Childhood Meeting Place (ECMP) web site (http://www.earlychildhoodmeetingplace.org) to provide a gateway website to information, services and resources for Indiana's early education professionals and families. ECMP is a free listing to agencies and organizations that provide training, services, and resources to Indiana's early childhood communities.

Currently, the Early Childhood Meeting Place includes searchable information in the following areas:

1. Events Calendar. A searchable listing of Indiana workshops and conferences related to early childhood topics and issues. Organizations providing such training may request a free account to post their trainings on the Events Calendar.

2. Professional Resources. This section is broken down into Continuing Education Resources and a listing of Professional Organizations.

3. Family Resources. This section was developed in partnership with and funding from the Indiana State Department of Health, Maternal and Children's Special Health Care Services, Sunny Start: Healthy Bodies, Healthy Minds Initiative. Family Resources provides a statewide clearinghouse of information for families of all young children, and is organized around these general topic areas:

•Community Resources

•Child Care and Early Education

•Health & Safety

•Parenting & Family Support

•Sunny Start Resource Fact Sheets

4. Familia Información y Recursos

• Crianza y familias

• Hojas de datos sobre recursos financieros

• Salud y Seguridad

Sponsored and supported by the Early Childhood Center, with additional funding for the Family Information and Resources section provided by DHHS/HRSA's Maternal and Child Health Bureau to the Indiana State Department of Health, Maternal and Children's Special Health Care Services, Sunny Start Project.
