About CeDIR

Mission:

CeDIR strives to be the primary disability library for residents of the state of Indiana by providing access to appropriate, quality materials and services.

Vision:

CeDIR will achieve this mission by:

  • Ensuring that the information needs of our patrons are successfully met.
  • Being committed to providing the highest level of service to our patrons.
  • Building partnerships with community groups and services across the state.
  • Utilizing technology to provide access to information for the widest possible audience.

Lending Library:

Over 5,000 books, videos, and kits are available that may be borrowed by anyone in Indiana. The materials cross disabilities, the life span, life areas (such as education, employment, and recreation), and disciplines.

The library has over 20 Resource Guides which have been developed to assist our patrons information about specific topics in our collection. Resource Guide topics include Behavior Supports, Employment, Families, Personal Futures Planning, and School Inclusion and much more.

Circulation Policy:

Search our collection through IUCAT.

Library materials are available to borrow by any Indiana resident or IU affiliate. Requests for materials can be made in person, by telephone,  through the mail or by email.

  • Materials circulate for a period of four weeks.
  • Materials can be renewed up to five times for an additional four week period unless someone else has requested them.
  • Materials can be sent out through the mail to Indiana residents who are unable to check them out in person.
  • A hold can be placed on items that are currently checked out. Patrons are notified when the material becomes available.
  • Renewed books are subject to recall when requested by another patron. Patrons are notified when a hold is placed on an item checked out to them.
  • Two overdue reminders will be sent either by email or postal mail.
  • If materials have not been renewed or returned after two overdue reminders are sent, a bill will be sent to patrons to cover the cost of purchasing the item and processing it again. A portion of this processing fee is nonrefundable.

Donations:

CeDIR welcomes donations to support our disability-related information services.

CeDIR Staff:

Librarian - Christina Wray
Christina Wray joined the CeDIR staff in August of 2006 with a B.A. in Religious Studies and Fine Press Publishing as well as a Masters of Library Science from Indiana University. Since her appointment as the Librarian at CeDIR, Christina has provided disability-related information services to patrons throughout the state of Indiana as well as providing training in this area to other librarians at the local, state, and national level. When not at the library, Christina enjoys sailing, hiking, adventuring with her dogs and, of course, reading.

Library Branch Coordinator - Sharon Soto
Sharon Soto joined the CeDIR staff as the Center Secretary in February 1995, bringing with her more than nine years of library clerical experience in a public library setting. In May 1997, Sharon was promoted to Library Branch Coordinator in recognition of her increased responsibilities. She continues to oversee circulation of the library collection of over 5,000 print and non-print materials and to have dissemination responsibilities for the entire Institute.
