This videotape describes the community building process as experienced by six older adults with disabilities, who live in Indiana. With support from community builders, the individuals are shown discovering their interests and abilities, getting connected to activities and organizations in the community, taking on valued roles, and exploring social relationships.

Four of the six individuals began to build relationships with the community in the 1996 videotape Journeys in Progress: Stories from the Community. A companion piece to Journeys in Progress, Cultivating Community: Landmarks of the Journey will show you where their travels have taken them and introduce you to two new individuals who are traveling down the road of community membership.
