InSpire: Indiana's Online Research Library
For researchers in Indiana who are not affiliated with a university, InSpire is a key resource that allows you to access commercial databases at no cost. With over 1,700 health related journals and databases dedicated to Education and Career Development, it's a great place to start your disability related online research.
To start using InSpire go to: http://login.inspire.net/register.html to set up an account. After you have completed the registration process you will be given a temporary password that is good for 72 hrs. To ensure that you are a resident of Indiana, your personal password will be mailed to you through U.S. mail.
Useful Databases
Academic Search Premier
Academic Search Premier is one of the most popular general academic databases available. With over 4,500 full text journals and indexed abstracts from over 8,000 journals it's a good place to start to "see what's out there" on your topic.
Health Source: Consumer
This database is a great resource for health information. It includes full text of magazines, books and pamphlets related to health, wellness and disabilities.
Medline Plus
Maintained by the National Library of Medicine, Medline Plus is a great source of health information you can trust. You will find clear, concise information about over 750 health related issues. Many items are also available in spanish.
Career Collection
The career collection is a set of 100 ebooks about finding, applying and getting jobs. Each text is fully searchable. Adobe Acrobat Reader is required to view the ebooks. Included in this collection is the "Job Search Handbook for People with Disabilities" published by JIST Publishing.
