The Collaborative Work Lab offers accommodations that allow each person to share ideas, plan, develop policies, and contribute to group activities. Accommodations to the CWLab include: wheelchair access, keyboard automation, sound enhancement, and computer video screen enlargement. Personal assistants and "chauffeurs," interpreter services, and materials in Braille are also available to users who desire such assistances.
Clearance under CWLab computer tables can be increased from 25 inches to either 31 or 36 inches using custom-designed lifting blocks. These heights are suitable for most types of wheelchairs. Moreover, CWLab laptop computers can be easily repositioned for maximum comfort and efficiency.
Supports and accommodations are available for individuals with many disabilities. Microsoft Windows 7 has integrated their Ease of Access Center, which allows users to control their computer with many new features, such as enhanced keyboard controls, text and image enlargement, and voice input/output.
For individuals who have difficulty hearing, Easy Listener is available to amplify sound while attending a group meeting. Easy Listener is an electronic device that employs FM signals to transmit sound. The range of the receiver is approximately 200 feet. Easy Listener can also be used as a wireless microphone during presentations.
For individuals who need visual supports, the CWLab staff can provide monitors as large as 22 inch for larger display while also increasing the size of the text and images on the screen by increasing the monitor resolution displayed on the screen. If this magnification in not adequate, a personal assistant can be provided.
