Dr. Heather Ormiston is a nationally certified school psychologist with a strong background in behavior development and culturally responsive practices. In August of 2010, Heather joined the Center on Education and Lifelong Learning at Indiana University to work on the PBIS Indiana grant working to implement culturally responsive PBIS throughout the state of Indiana. Prior to coming to IU, Heather practiced as a school psychologist in the Cherry Creek School District in Denver, CO, serving a diverse population of students from pre-school through eighth grade. Her practice included working with children on the Autism spectrum, students with identified emotional disabilities, and students served within a self-contained behavior development program. Additionally, while in Cherry Creek, Heather served on the district's Alternative to Suspensions Task Force as well as the Culturally Responsive Discipline task force, and is trained in Collaborative Problem Solving. For the past five years, Heather has also been an adjunct faculty member at Regis University in Denver, CO, the University of Colorado-Denver, and most recently, Indiana University-Bloomington.
