SELECTED LIST OF BOOKS WRITTEN BY INDIVIDUALS ON THE AUTISM SPECTRUM

Contributed by Marci Wheeler, M.S.W.

Information written by individuals on the autism spectrum can be truly enlightening. Though no two people have the same experiences, there is much to be learned from individuals who have personal experiences to share. The books on this short list stand out for one reason or the other. Many are recommended by individuals with an autism spectrum disorder and/or their families. Currently, most of the authors listed are speakers at various workshops and conferences, and/or are involved in projects that are focused on benefiting the autism community.

These books can be borrowed by Indiana residents from the Center for Disability Information and Referral (CeDIR) at the Indiana Institute on Disability and Community. You can contact CeDIR by calling 1-800-437-7924 (toll free in Indiana) or 1-812-855-9396 (Voice/TT). The entire catalogue of holdings is now available to view online at http://www.iucat.iu.edu/
