Photo, Dennis DebbaudtDennis Debbaudt is the proud father of Brad, a young man who has autism. A professional investigator and law enforcement trainer, Dennis has authored or co-authored over 25 articles and books including Autism, Advocates and Law Enforcement Professionals: Recognizing and Reducing Risk Situations for People with Autism Spectrum Disorders for Jessica Kingsley Publishers , London UK (2002) and articles for the FBI Law Enforcement Bulletin (April, 2001), Sheriff Magazine and The Resourcer - official publication of the National Association of School Resource Officers. Dennis’ training video is in use by the Department of Homeland Security, Pennsylvania State Police, Portland, Cincinnati, Nashville, Philadelphia, Houston, Virginia Beach Police Departments, and MTA New York City Transit police among hundreds of agencies. Dennis has trained with NYPD’s Emergency Services Unit, consulted and contributed to the Chicago Police Department’s autism training block, is a cited Subject Autism & Emergency Preparedness Subject Matter Resource at Department of Homeland Security web site Lessons Learned Information Sharing consulted to ABC News 20/20 for a segment on autism and false confession, and is a consultant for the Autism Society of America’s Safe and Sound program. Dennis was featured in a New York Times report on autism and law enforcement and is a member of the International Law Enforcement Educators and Trainers Association (ILEETA).
