Information About the Social Security Ticket to Work Program and How Benefits, Earnings and Work Incentives Impact Life for People with Disabilities

Agencies still hesitant about Ticket to Work: 2011 survey results December 2011 Many Indiana providers and agencies agree: They’re still unclear about the Social Security Ticket to Work process and its benefits, have concerns about becoming an Employment Network (EN), and need more information. The Center on Community Living and Careers at Indiana University’s Indiana Institute on Disability and Community, conducted a needs assessment in May 2011 to explore provider concerns and examine the barriers to TTW implementation. Results of the survey include: Top 3 reasons why your agency isn’t an Employment Network. 1. Unsure of how the program works. 2. Don’t have time to complete the process to become an EN. 3. Don’t currently work with individuals who want to reach substantial gainful activity (SGA).
Top 3 reasons why no tickets are assigned if an agency is an EN. 1. Unsure of how to reach beneficiaries who want to earn at SGA. 2. Unsure of how to assign a ticket. 3. Unsure of how to track wage information.
What would be helpful in making your current program more successful, or in assisting your agency to become an EN? 1. Technical assistance based in Indiana (email, phone and face-to-face)—58% 2. Fact sheets for beneficiaries, families, and providers—54.5% 3. Opportunities to talk with other ENs—38.6% 4. Webinars focused on TTW in Indiana—37.5% 5. Additional information on benefits and work incentives—33%
