Disaster Preparedness Publication

When disasters occur, people with disabilities are often among those most in harm’s way. In many cases this is because the planning and resources in place to respond to disasters and emergencies haven’t made adequate provision for people with disabilities.

The new publication, “Impact: Feature Issue on Disaster Preparedness and People with Disabilities” from the Institute on Community Integration seeks to address that need for greater inclusion of people with disabilities in disaster preparedness, response, and recovery efforts. The publication is available online http://ici.umn.edu/ as well as in print. Print copies can be requested by contacting the ICI Publications Office at 612-624-4512 or icipub@umn.edu. The first print copy is free; additional copies are $4 each.
