Project and Programs Across Areas of Focus
Autism Spectrum Disorders
The Indiana Resource Center for Autism conducts outreach training and
consultations, engages in research, and develops and disseminates information on
behalf of individuals across the autism
spectrum, including autism, Asperger’s
syndrome, and other pervasive
developmental disorders. Efforts are focused on providing communities, organizations,
agencies, and families with the knowledge and skills to support children and adults in typical early intervention, school, community, work, and home settings.
The Autism Advocates of Indiana Project trains law enforcement personnel,
firefighters, and EMTs to recognize the
characteristics of autism spectrum disorders in critical situations and react accordingly. Additionally, kits will be provided to
school-based autism and parent group
leaders to train responders in their local communities.
The Autism Training Project provides
persons with autism spectrum disorders
and their families with training and materials dissemination designed to increase their knowledge on autism spectrum disorders.
