Coming Up

Inspiring Abilities Expo 2007: Families United for Support and Encouragement (FUSE) is hosting its first annual Inspiring Abilities Expo on Saturday, March10, 2007, at the St. James Lutheran Church in Greenfield, Indiana.

Providing an opportunity for families to connect with service providers, non-profit and public services agencies, and vendors of products and services, is the focus of Abilities Expo 2007. Speakers will address issues such as:

· Special needs trusts;
· Public financial resources;
· Challenging behaviors; and
· Sensory integration.

Coming in May

Autism Society of America Logo and LinkAPSE Logo and LinkxEmployment Conference for People on the Autism Spectrum: The Hyatt on Capitol Square, Columbus, Ohio, will be the site for a two-day conference, May 10-11, 2007, focusing on the employment of people on the autism spectrum presented by the Autism Society of America (ASA) and APSE: The Network on Employment.

Imagine… Everybody Works provides an opportunity for two associations to join as partners to advance employment for individuals with autism. The conference will offer multiple venues for participants to gain new knowedge based on research and practical experience. Attendees will enjoy quality speakers across 19 concurrent sessions, productive dialogues, formal and informal networking opportunities, and exhibits from vendors highlighting tools and techniques that can be utilized to enhance the employment outcomes and lives of those on the autism spectrum.

The Opening Keynote Speaker will be Cary Griffin, Senior Partner at Griffin-Hammis Associates, a full service consultancy specializing in building communities of economic cooperation, creating high performance organizations, and focusing on disability and employment. Griffin is also the Co-Principal Investigator of the U.S. Department of Labor's National Self-Employment Technical Assistance, Resources, and Training Project at Virginia Commonwealth University.

The Luncheon Keynote Speaker will be Peter Gerhardt, Ed.D., President of the Organizations for Autism Research, a not-for-profit organization whose mission is to fund applied research and disseminate relevant findings in support of learners with autism spectrum disorders.

Registration fee is $250.00 per person. One Continuing Education Unit (CEU) will be offered to participants at a fee of $15.00.
