Coming Up
xCo-Teaching 1.0 Workshops: The Indiana Department of xEducation xin conjunction with the Indiana Institute’s Center on Education and xLifelong Leaning, will host a series of workshops focusing on basic
xco-teaching principles and strategies in October and November 2007.
Attendees will learn:
· How communication and collaboration skills can be maximized to
ximprove student outcomes;
· How and when various co-teaching models match student, curricular, and adult needs; xand
· How school and classroom environments can support collaborative learning and xteaching.
General and special educators who plan to co-teach, teachers in the beginning stages of a co-teaching relationship, and practitioners who need more specific information on “what co-teaching really is” and need the “how tos” are encouraged to attend along with co-teaching partner(s), grade or content level, or leadership teams.

There is no registration fee associated with these workshops. If you attend a Beginning Regional Workshop, you will be eligible to enroll in the Collaboration and Co-Teaching Summer Camp, to be held in June/July of 2008 and receive three hours of graduate credit through full attendance and project requirements. Co-Teaching 2.0 Workshops: For educators who are interested in furthering and extending co-teaching practices, mark your calendars and plan to attend, the Indiana Department of Education and the Center on Education and Lifelong Learning’s Co-Teaching 2.0 workshops.
If you have attended a basic level co-teaching workshop in the past year,
practiced fully shared teaching collaborations for extended periods of time,
served as a model for quality co-teaching practices within your school,
are interested in building and extending co-teaching capacity, or want to take your co-teaching to the next level, these workshop opportunities are for you.

xTransition IEP: New Regulations and Rules xWorkshops: Parents and educators, the Institute’s Center on Community Living and Careers, in conjunction with the Indiana Department of Education, Division of Exceptional Learners, will host a series of regional workshops focusing on the new regulations and rules for transition services for young adults based on IDEIA and the proposed Article 7. Monitoring expectations of the Transition IEP will also be addressed.

City’s Council for Community Accessibility Seeks Nominees: The City of Bloomington’s Council for Community Accessibility (CCA) is soliciting nominations for its annual awards ceremony. The group recognizes individuals, businesses and organizations that make the community more accessible for people with disabilities.
The CCA advocates on behalf of people with disabilities, promotes awareness of the challenges faced by people with disabilities, and works to develop solutions to problems of accessibility in the community.
· Award categories include:
· Kristin Willison Volunteer Service Award
· Business Service Award
· Professional and Community Service Award
· Housing Service Award
· Self-Advocacy Award
· Mayor’s Award
Nomination forms are available in the Community and Family Resources Department in City Hall, 401 N. Morton Street, Suite 260. Forms also are available online at http://www.bloomington.in.gov/cfrd. Nominations must be returned by September 21, 2007.
