eLearning Webinar: ADA-Indiana is hosting a free Webinar on eLearning and Accessibility,  Monday, September 29 from  2:00-3:00 p.m. This Webinar will address strategies for businesses to improve their knowledge and implementation of accessible e-Learning.

Robert Todd, Senior Research Scientist at the Georgia Institute of Technology’s Center for Assistive Technology and Environmental Access (CATEA), will be the guest speaker. Buddy Walk: The National Down Syndrome Society is sponsoring a Buddy Walk, scheduled for Saturday, October 18, 2008 at Bryan Park, Bloomington benefiting the Down Syndrome Family Connection and the National Down Syndrome Society. This event raises money to promote awareness for all individuals with Down syndrome. In addition, money raised supports local services, national research, education, and advocacy efforts. Additionally, funds raised will benefit local services through the creation of new parent packets, community education, awareness, and promotional events, as well as operational expenses.

The Buddy Walk includes a noncompetitive walk followed by food and fun! Come be a part of this great day and do your part to help promote awareness and acceptance of people with Down syndrome. You can help by:

Pre-registering to walk with us;

Form your own team and ask your friends, family or coworkers to support you with pledges and join you on the Walk;

Volunteer to help on the day of the Walk; or

2008 Indiana Lead-Safe and Healthy Homes Conference: The Lead-Safe and Healthy Homes Task Force is sponsoring a two-day conference  focusing on building a healthy environment for Indiana children and families, November 5-6, 2008 at the Marten House, Indianapolis.

What makes a healthy home, daycare, or school? What keeps a child from being lead poisoned or having an asthma attack? The answer… An environment that is lead-free, dry, clean, and pest-free. The 2008 Indiana Lead-Safe and Healthy Homes Conference will offer attendees tried and true sessions, as well as new and timely information from experts, in the field of lead poisoning prevention, childhood asthma, health care, and other healthy homes issues.

Registration fee is $135.00 (first person from an organization) and $95.00 for each additional attendee. CEUs for childcare providers and licensed pesticide applicators will be available. New Institute Product

DVD on Collaboration and Teaming: The Indiana Institute’s Center on Education and Lifelong Learning is pleased to announce a new DVD entitled Collaboration and Teaming: Eight Dramatic Vignettes of Teams Working and Learning Together.

These vignettes feature a school team as they progress through a year-long planning process, document the challenges they faced, and highlight the process of designing realistic and purposeful solutions to those challenges.

Video segments focus on:

· Listening and conversation skills;
· Collaboration analysis and framework;
· Frame of reference and problem solving;
· Conflict management and negotiation;
· Co-teaching styles and models;
· Teamwork tools;
· Teacher leadership and peer coaching; and
· Stakeholder involvement.

The DVD runs 180 minutes and is available online through the Indiana Institute’s E-Store.
