Early Literacy Summer Institute: Scientific & Equitable Early Literacy Instruction

June 28th-30th 2022

Come join us in beautiful Bloomington, IN. to learn more about scientific and equitable early literacy instruction! You will have the opportunity to delve deeply into content regarding the most effective and equitable instructional practices to develop PK-3rd grade children’s early literacy skills

  • oral language
  • vocabulary
  • phonological awareness, phonics, & alphabet knowledge
  • spelling
  • fluency and comprehension, and
  • writing

We will spend a day focused on each of the 6 content areas when you will learn how to assess children’s needs and specific evidence-based instructional practices to meet those needs before having ample opportunity to collaborate with colleagues and apply your learning to specific real-world contextual scenarios.

All the evidence-based early literacy instructional practices align with the Science of Reading, the IDOE learning foundations and assessment measures, the DEC’s recommended practices, and the CEC’s high-leverage practices. Furthermore, you can implement the evidence-based instructional practices within any literacy curriculum. Emphasis will be placed on differentiation and individualization for students with diverse learning needs throughout.

Cost: $300, some scholarships are available for schools enrolled in the Preschool Inclusion Project.
