Roberta worked for almost thirty years with the state of Indiana Vocational Rehabilitation Services, which is part of the Division of Disability and Rehabilitative Services and the Family and Social Services Administration. Roberta began her career in 1985 as a Vocational Rehabilitation counselor and worked for twenty three years both in Indianapolis and Bloomington. She became the area supervisor for the Bloomington VR office in 2008 until she retired in 2014. She has an extensive background in the field of employment for persons with disabilities as well as experience working with persons with various types of disabilities including cognitive impairments and other development disabilities, mental illness, traumatic brain injuries, and autism. Roberta was actively involved in transition services both as a VR counselor and area supervisor and was part of transition councils in Indianapolis, Bloomington, and Morgan county. She has been involved for the past three years with conference planning for Indiana Association of People Supporting Employment First (INAPSE).
