The Early Childhood Center (ECC) is embarking on a new research study in cooperation with the Indiana Department of Education (IDOE). We are pleased to welcome Sally Reed Crawford who will be working on this project.
This study will investigate the use of the Indiana Standards Tool for the Alternate Reporting of Kindergarten Readiness (ISTAR-KR) for measuring program impact on student learning and kindergarten readiness. The IDOE has identified 200 programs that have used the ISTAR-KR. These programs have been invited to participate in the current study.
The purpose of this study is to investigate the use of the ISTAR-KR for determining the:
- Extent to which Indiana children are successfully prepared for kindergarten;
- Possible impact of child and program qualities on student learning;and
- Skills most closely associated with successful kindergarten entry and performance.
