Resume/CV

Janet Ballard is a research associate with the Early Childhood Center (ECC) at the Institute on Disability and Community, Indiana University, Bloomington.

Ballard’s early childhood background spans birth to five with extensive knowledge in early intervention and Head Start. A common theme of her work is providing quality services to children and families. She has done numerous presentations and trainings on ways to deliver high quality services to children and families both in the home and the early childhood classroom.

Degrees

Ballard has a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from the University of Indianapolis, and a master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction with a Minor in Early Childhood from Concordia University-Portland.

Personal Statement

I have a strong connection with young children and their families. I have over 30 years of working with this population both as a First Steps provider in Indiana, a state program consultant, an evaluator of the state system, evaluator of preschool teachers and their interactions with the young children they teach, the development and day to day operations of a local Early Head Start Program, and director of six childcare center licenses. I enjoy working with young families and the professionals who serve them through mentoring, coaching, and professional development opportunities. My desire is to make sure all children get the quality early childhood opportunities they need so they can reach their full potential at school, with their families and in the communities they live.
