About Us

The Library at the Indiana Institute on Disability and Community offers residents of the state of Indiana access to quality disability-related library materials. We have more than 6,000 books, kits, and DVDs about disabilities covering the lifespan that are available to borrow by anyone in Indiana. Regardless of where you live, we will lend our materials to you through the mail or to help answer your disability-related questions.

By making a gift to the Library, you empower us to continue and expand our work in:

  • Purchasing new titles with current information on disability-related topics that cover the lifespan
  • Disseminating Library materials to Hoosiers across the state who need disability-related information and resources
  • Developing and disseminating information via the web, blog, Facebook, and other social networking outlets
  • Maintaining and expanding information about disability-related services throughout Indiana.

Material Donations

The Library at the IIDC also accepts donations in the form of books, kits, and DVDs  if the materials have been published within the past ten years and are disability related. This is due to the limited space options we have for library bookshelves. Donations of this nature are considered surrendered by the donor and will be physically altered (stamps and stickers placed on them) if they are added to the library collection.

Donations may be brought to us at the Library or may be mailed to us with a note of explanation.
