Welcome to the website for NATTAP (Network of Autism Training and Technical Assistance Providers).
NATTAP is an organization created in the 1980’s by a group of professionals running statewide programs who were interested in networking. NATTAP members run statewide training and technical assistance programs whether based at universities or state departments of education, or other private statewide organizations.
These professionals are working directly on issues that impact individuals on the spectrum through consultation, program development or university coursework. NATTAP members provide support and resources for those working to expand services, build local capacity and promote statewide infrastructures to provide effective and evidence-based programming.
Through the years, this group has continued to meet informally at national conferences (e.g., Autism Society, OCALICON). In addition, NATTAP partners developed teacher competencies adopted by the Council for Exceptional Children (CEC) (https://www.cec.sped.org/Standards/Special-Educator-Professional-Preparation/CEC-Initial-and-Advanced-Specialty-Sets) with support from the Autism Society (http://www.autism-society.org/), wrote an article on bullying (https://www.iidc.indiana.edu/index.php?pageId=3587) and have been involved in various national efforts. For example, NATTAP members have been actively involved in the IDEA Partnership’s Community of Practice on Autism Spectrum and have assisted in creating materials (http://ideapartnership.org/creating-community/cop-in-practice/autism-spectrum-disorder.html). Individual members have done so much more and have made incredible progress in their state.
This website is a directory of partners. The directory allows individuals to access resources and services in their own and in other states, and also highlights the important work of members.
