Employment Specialist Training
Training and expertise for employment professionals supporting people with disabilities who are seeking community employment.
(Includes online training and two face-to-face support days)
Employment Specialist Training, coordinated by the Center on Community Living and Careers and supported by Indiana Vocational Rehabilitation Services, provides basic skills training for certification to service providers who have worked as employment specialists for less than one year. Attendees learn best practices in Discovery, job and career development, employment support planning, worksite analysis, follow along, and emerging industry trends.
Online/in-person Employment Specialist Training is offered several times a year and includes access to interactive online modules as well as two face-to-face, in-person meetings for orientation and further instruction. Individuals who attend both meetings and successfully complete all online assignments receive a competency-based certificate from Indiana University. CEUs are available and the training is approved by the Association of Community Rehabilitation Educators (ACRE).
Each online training consists of online content modules and two face-to-face meetings with EST trainers. (Estimated training completion time is 40 hours.) The in-person meetings are held at Easterseals Crossroads, 4740 Kingsway Dr., Indianapolis.
Registration for Employment Specialist Training is $225 per person.
