Judith Gross, Ph.D., director of IIDC's Center on Community Living and Careers, will discuss how to empower students and families in transition at next month's SSI Youth Solutions conference, June 9-11. Co-presenting with Grace Francis from George Mason University, Gross will discuss how Family Employment Awareness Training (FEAT), which is now offered in five states including Indiana, bridges the gap between high school and adulthood by:
- helping families understand available systems and supports,
- showing them a variety of success stories,
- increasing their awareness of local resources, and
- providing them with access to individualized support following FEAT.
Gross and Francis will present, "Family Employment Awareness Training: A Research-Based Program for Promoting High Expectations for Employment and Knowledge of Resources" on June 11, from 1-3 p.m., Eastern Time.
