Indiana families will have a new opportunity in 2022 to participate in free, Family Employment Awareness Training. Held virtually, FEAT is a series of six interactive sessions that will take place February 22, 23, 24, and March 1, 2, 3. FEAT gives families, young adults, and their supporters the chance to learn about state and local employment supports, resources, success stories, and step-by-step how-to information.
Indiana is one of five states offering FEAT training to its transitioning families and students. For students and families, putting the pieces together—Social Security benefits and work incentives, Medicaid waiver supports, Indiana Vocational Rehabilitation, local employment service supports, and opportunities from area employers—is a challenge and a steep learning curve. Recognizing that, IIDC's Center on Community Living and Careers with the support of AWS Foundation, is teaching families how to navigate the systems and take advantage of opportunities for jobs and careers.
FEAT sessions will be offered twice for each of the six sessions, once at noon and again at 6 p.m., for the convenience of working families and their supporters.
Training is free, but registration is required. For more information see the FEAT information page on the CCLC website or register now for one or all six sessions.
