CCLC Staff to Present at the 2025 Heart to Heart Conference
Researchers from the Center on Community Living and Careers (CCLC) will present at the Heart to Heart Conference on Thursday, September 25. Dr. Cathlene Hardy Hansen, Dr. Mary Pearson, and Michael Nevins will share resources to support educators, families, and individuals with disabilities in achieving employment, education, and independent living goals.
Powers Elected to National Board Supporting Disability Employment Educators
The Association of Community Rehabilitation Educators (ACRE) has elected Brady Powers, research associate for the Center on Community Living and Careers (CCLC), to a two-year term as an at-large board member.
Pearson Receives Award at the 2024 TASH Conference in New Orleans
Dr. Mary Pearson, research associate from the Center on Community Living and Careers led two sessions on innovative approaches to career and technical education and the latest research on transitioning from sheltered employment. Due to her outstanding work, she received the TASH General award for her poster on microcredentialing in Career and Technical Education.
The 2024 Division on Career Development and Transition (DCDT) conference took place in Chantilly, Virginia from October 16 to 19, bringing together transition educators from across the U.S. and internationally to explore policies and practices that improve career opportunities and transition services for individuals with disabilities. Mike Nevins and Sarah Lamb, research associates from the Center on Community Living and Careers (CCLC), presented on integrating the LifeCourse into their Family Employment Awareness Training (FEAT).
Microcredentials Take Center Stage at the Indiana All CTE State Conference
The Indiana All CTE State Conference took place in Indianapolis, Indiana from September 12 – 14. Three members of the Indiana Secondary Transition Resource Center (INSTRC) team delivered a presentation on their innovative microcredential pilots for students with disabilities.

Sandra Block, research associate at the Center on Community Living and Careers, will lead two Lunch N Learn sessions at the Florida Center for Inclusive Communities (FCIC) at the University of South Florida. The sessions will be held via Microsoft Teams or Zoom.

Gross Expands Family Employment Awareness Training to New York
Judith Gross, director of the Center on Community Living and Careers, continues the national expansion of the popular evidence-based Family Employment Awareness Training (FEAT). In August 2023, she travels to New York to kick off planning sessions for a three-year grant-funded initiative.
Partnering with the Indiana Department of Correction
The Indiana Secondary Transition Resource Center (INSTRC) is partnering with the Indiana Department of Correction (IDoC) to address the unique transition needs of students with disabilities involved in the juvenile justice system.
